Dr. Cornel West Running for President in 2024, Calls for an Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza

Dr. Cornel West has earned a household name over the span of decades serving as a well-known activist, thought leader, and dedicated professor at both Harvard and Princeton University. Yet, despite his consistent resume, Dr. West has announced that in the year 2024, he is aiming for the seat of American President.

in October of 2023, in his trek towards the White House, Dr. West announced publicly that he was switching some things up: West had originally been running for president as part of the Green Party, but announced that he would instead run for president as an independent candidate -- joining two other independent presidential candidates: Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Jill Stein.

In tandem, unanticipated wars in the Middle east continue to erupt, taking the lives of several children and families. Dr. Cornel West has since been spotted at the forefront of it all, passionately calling for an immediate Ceasefire in Gaza while even criticizing current elected officials in the Whitehouse for "enabling" hateful behavior and war crimes.

Dr. West stated candidly during an interview during November 2023 with Al Jazeera regarding the war in Gaza: “The U.S government is enabling genocide…”, as he continued to share his insights into suggestive interventions, as well as what leaders ought to be focusing on during this current global/political crisis.

During another interview in October 2023, West said to media sources, “It is long past time to stop ping-ponging between Republicans and Democrats while millions of our friends and neighbors lack housing, healthcare, decent jobs, clean air, clean water, nutritious food, and a healthy environment.”

Dr. Cornel West must gather tens of thousands of signatures required to qualify for the ballot in crucial states. Without the infrastructure of a formal party, such signature gathering will fall largely to grassroots volunteers.

“As Dr. West’s campaign for president grows, he believes that the best way to challenge the entrenched system is by focusing 100% on the people, not on the intricacies of internal party dynamics,” West’s Campaign said in a written statement. “Our constitution provides for independent candidates to gain ballot access in all states, and Dr. West has begun seeking ballot access as an independent, unaffiliated with any political party.”
